Chaim and Vera Weizmann

Chaim Weitzmann and his wife Vera at their home in Rehovot. The young man in the picture is Michael Clark, a very good friend of their son Michael. The two went to English school together and on 1939 came to spend the Easter holiday in Israel. On May 16th Michael drove to Tel Aviv on his motorcycle and was murdered on his way by an Arab gang. He was buried at the Military Cemetery in Ramla at the age of twenty-two.

חיים ויצמן ורעייתו ורה בביתם ברחובות. הבחור בתמונה הוא מיכאל קלארק, חברו הטוב של בנם מיכאל. השניים למדו יחד באנגליה ובשנת 1939 בילו את חופשתם בישראל. ב-16 במאי רכב מיכאל לתל אביב על אופנוע, ובדרך נורה בידי כנופיה ערבית ומת מפצעיו. מיכאל נקבר בבית הקברות הצבאי ברמלה והוא בן 22 במותו.
